The stuff we have here is just getting a wee bit too fermented:) which means...kimchee soup!!! so not all bad:)

grumble....
wasted 2 test strips and had to stick my finger 3 times this morning to get a reading...whinge whinge moan.......
now I need to remember to set an alarm on my phone to do my post breaky test as well...sure as eggs I'll forget if I don't!
The basmatis rice, red beans and kimchi seem to work well for me as a breakfast....I know it's a bit weird, but tastes good, low GI, etc...
and easy to chuck in the rice cooker when I'm getting other stuff ready as well!

Blood sugar
I seem to be having problems with blood sugar levels....crap!!
Now I have to spend the next 8-10 weeks using one of those test kit things....
I've thought for a while that something was up, so my BIL tested me, and sure enough..levels a bit high. I'm going to treat this as if I already have GD, and watch my eating straight away..If get the official test I'll be forced to endure the stupid, outdated way of testing pregnant women, by being forced to drink a really nasty bottle of sugar stuff, and then have several blood samples taken, which could tust be done with a blood glucose monitor anyway...and making someone who may be borderline GD drink a bottle of sugar water is insane!

I do tend to take a while between posts!
32 weeks!!
good greif where did that time go? Ds's Pregnancy seemed to drag, and this one has flown. Bub is head down nicely, and I'm having many many Braxton hicks this time round. It keeps me hopeful that this bub has every intention of coming out in the right spot!!!
I could have hugged my Mum's cousin the other day...We said we were homebirthing, and there was no "oh I'd never be brave enough...." no "is that safe??" etc..
The number of women who would never even consider homebirth beacuse "it's too dangerous" staggers me. Talk to them about their birthing experiences, and it's all about the number of drugs used, how brusied the baby was, because of forceps or ventous, how many stitches, breastfeeding never initiated because baby too bruised to nurse, Mum told baby just too big, better induce. This list goes on and on.
Medical intervention is a fantastic thing when there is an emergency, but when did we all start to meekly accept that being treated like a second class citizen during labour was ok, or being treated like you are too dumb to know what's going on with your own body was normal and acceptable????
for ages I've said that DS was "10 days Late" when in fact a midwife freind pointed out to me that if we base pregnancy on 42 weeks, he was early. Why is it if a c-section must be organsied, the baby is sectioned early in almost every case, despite ALL the evidence being that this is a bad idea????
The more I talk to people who have had a "standard" hospital birth, the more it makes me want to run screaming in the other direction.
Not that I'd get a standard hospital birth anyway.....stand back!!! she's a VBAC...her stomache is about to explode, just like that scene from Aliens......
I'm really looking forward to birthing at home. Can anyone out there say they are really looking forward to birthing in the hospital???? think about it!

finishing up at work
I've made the decision to stop work earlier than planned. I need to be at home with DS and concentrating on getting my head into the right place for this upcoming birth much more than I need the money from 10 hours a week pay. It would have been handy of course to have gone for a bit longer, but more time spent on DS, Hypnobirth practise and some exersize would be much more valuable.
Baby is developing nicely at 25 weeks, and I'll go get a check up with my natropath as well.

24 weeks
24 weeks and the morning sickness has reduced yay!
We have also had official confirmation that the nuchal scan results were completely wrong. Thank goodness!!

Update
I'm notoriously bad at remembering to update my blog.
But I feel I should get some of this down. We are having a little boy:-)
I have to wonder at the medical proffenions mindset though, when we recieved the nuchal scan results suggesting a high chance of Edwards, and Downs syndrome, we questioned it. I knew that the scan had not been done properly, but even when I tried to explain this to an OB my GP refferd me to, he said that "These scans are rarely wrong, and the best way to check is with an amnio"
Wrong. The best way to check, is to have a bloody look at the films, but he couldn't be bothered seeing me.
We refused to have the amnio done, and waited until 19 weeks for the Women's and Children's to have a look.
Guess what?? The high Nuchal measurement was a typo!! Had this expert actualy sat down with us, and had a look at the film, he could have seen that the measurement was 1mm, not 4mm, and the report itself was wrong.
We'd just like to thank all the medical ppl who couldn't be arsed to double check the findings, and who wanted to go straight to a test that carries a risk of killing the baby. Shame on you!!
A HUGE thankyou to our independant midwife, who said that she thought that my instincts were correct, and that there was something up with the results.
